The Droga family are low-ranked demons. They are considered at the very bottom of the demon hierarchy and are wild in nature. Even Lucifer rarely dispatches them for missions.

Drogas have three evolutions: the wild beast (Droga), the whispering serpent (Drogo), and the perfect imitator (Drogulite).

Droga

Drogas are wild beasts and only take commands from a higher rank. They are hunters, with an ability to track a scent even from another world. They can also extract souls, wiping away any trace of their target’s spiritual energy. Their red faceless mask, large mole-like claws, and red circle etched onto their chest are their distinct features. Their claws are strong enough to cut through steel like butter. It is rumored that the faceless mask holds the souls of those Divine Beasts that rebelled against God from the First War in Heaven.

Drogo

Every 50 years, Drogas go through an evolution stage, gaining a small amount of intelligence and transforming their beastly bodies into something more serpent-like. They become Drogos.

Drogos (aka Whispers) are useless in battle, but make up for it with their reconnaissance skills. Their long bodies secret a substance that keeps them camouflaged, even among us humans. It is an uncommon practice for the Drogos, but they can temporarily possess a target by attaching their tail to the back of the host’s neck. This gives them the ability to interact with humans and gather further intel. Drogos have pitch black eyes that act like cameras, recording everything. They mostly hide in The Veil, a space between Earth and Hell, and thought-speak to each other, or other demons.

Drogulite

Their final evolution posed a problem to Lucifer. In fact, he cast them to the Shadow Region of the planet Macu, where they spent their days under the rule of Uni. Who are these rogue demons? They are called Drogulites.

Drogulites, often called Shadow Demons, are human-like demons, with the intelligence to match. They are described as hooded ninjas, with blood red eyes and carrying a katana on their back. They still answer to a higher rank, but a select few are rebellious in nature. They also have excellent combat skills. Thanks to Uni, their combat skills are on par with a mid-level demon.

What makes a Drogulite unique (and valuable) is their ability to imitate their target perfectly. Unlike Pishachas (flesh-eating demons), a Drogulite can become that target through consumption of the target’s brain. They can also gain smaller intel by connecting to the target’s body with their fingernails.

Divine Beasts are creatures, blessed with celestial power and Free Will. They have been around since Creation and were the first to be given Free Will by God. Although they have the appearance of earthly creatures, they are much larger in size and have the ability to speak human languages.

To receive a Divine Beast’s power, one must form a contract with them. There is no set way of forming the contract. According to the archangel, Merrick, Adam formed his contracts by simply asking the Divine Beast if they wanted to form a contract. Another example is when the Yajuu no Bronx members received their powers. They formed their contracts through ordinary-looking fantasy trading cards. The contract is similar to a marriage registration, making both parties bound to each other for life. That means, no one else can share that Divine Beast with you, not even your offspring. There are only two ways to nullify the contract: either party must renounce the contract, or either party dies before the other.

A Divine Beast can take on a human form, if they so choose. Many Divine Beasts prefer their natural form over a human form. Hence the many folklore throughout the world. But those that have made bonds have a human form they use when its necessary.

The powers a Divine Beast has varies from each Divine Beast. But there is one constant thing that is found with all contract holders: the ability to meta-morph into an anthropomorphic creature (aka Tamer). In addition, the human has usage of their Divine Beast’s power outside of their meta-morphed form. For example: Pansā, the panther Divine Beast, allows her partner, Mark, usage of her shadow powers while he’s in his human form.

The Gateway System is a core piece of Angel Tech is the Beast Series. Anyone can use them. It was created by Raziel as a way of traveling between the universes.

The gateway is a simple design: a large stony circle with zodiac symbols around the outer circle. The inner circle converges the energy, forming this watery portal (think Stargate, but not as flashy). They operate by entering in coordinates into a control panel, which is either next to it, or controlled through a network. They have been planted in various locations throughout the universes. Thanks to the First and Second War in Heaven, many of these gateways have been either destroyed or their control panel was severely damaged.

The gateway was first introduced in Beast of the Bronx, when Mark, Andrew, and Shanta go to the planet Macu to train. Although it wasn’t stated, the gateway in Madam Renee’s Fortune House is connected to Heaven’s network. Madam Renee can contact Heaven to open the gateway (not trying to spoil anything).

There are two types of gateways: Wild and Stable. Wild Gateways (aka Wild Gates) have lost/severely damaged their control panel during the heavenly wars and they remain open. Nearly half of the total gates are Wild Gates. No one knows the exact coordinates for each Wild Gate. It is like playing Russian Roulette whenever you enter them. Stable Gateways (aka Gates) are under a network run by Heaven. There are stations throughout the universe (about forty), each run by three Tech-class angels and two Warrior-class angels as security.

Sanctuary is the secret organization for our heroes. It was established after Jesus’ ascension and originally run by the Disciples. Later, God gave select angels the task of running Sanctuary, and even relocated it to another plane.

The original Sanctuary didn’t have a an established building. It was more like small gatherings to get a perspective on where they were needed most. It was also hard secure a building, since the Disciples were under heavy persecution by the Roman Empire.

Sanctuary is located in Purgatory, and is divided into five buildings. Each building is two-stories tall and a mile long. Each building has five or six lower levels (except for the southern building), and is equipped with three Stable Gates. They are run by archangels, with the hub run by a seraphim. An aerial view shows the buildings being very spaced out (roughly thirty miles apart), forming a giant cross.

The hub is at the center and is the largest of the five. Run by the seraphim, Serah, it is very active. The main floor consists of various corridors and elevators, along with shops and a massive cafeteria. The second floor is your corporate office. It is divided into four areas: the sales floor, a large meeting room, a break room, and Serah’s office. Most of the character interaction is conducted in Serah’s office, which is the second largest room on the second floor. The lower levels consists of an R&D area, a Medical Ward, and a Training Room. The R&D area and Medical Ward are on the same floor while the Training Room is on the last lower floor. They are separated by two levels, in the event one of them has a mass explosion.

The western building is where the HBI (Heaven Bureau of Investigations) resides. It is run by an archangel, named Janis, and is where the angel, Cyrill works. Their main job is to monitor all celestial activity, intervening in human affairs when necessary.

The northern building is a large R&D facility. The one who runs the facility is an archangel named Sephary, along with her angel assistant, Kirt. A former student of Raziel, Sephary creates many of the current tech for Sanctuary. There is also a team of warriors, called Heaven Fighter Angélon that reside there. The small, but powerful archangel, Mihr, runs the team. Not much is known about them, except that they were formed after Freedom fell and fight in the shadows.

The eastern building is the library. Inside, they store Earth’s knowledge on holo-discs (DVD-like discs that project the recording through a device). Compared to the library in Heaven, this would be about the size the British Library and the Library of Congress combined.

The southern building is the residential area, and the oddity amongst the five. Unlike the other four, the southern building has two lower levels and has a team of angels as the maintenance crew. That building alone can house over 2.5 million people, thanks to a interstellar system Raziel created. This system places the individual houses into their own pocket dimensions, despite that the main hallway is filled with doors, spaced out by three feet. A better way to view it is the TARDIS, from Doctor Who, but mass produced.

Residents are given an ID badge, that acts like a debit card, a house key, and universal translator. This was developed by Sephary as a means to get around Sanctuary and can also be used on Earth. A replacement can be costly, due the value of badge.

Artemis is the opposite of Sanctuary. They are here for the collapse of Man. The evil organization was founded by Nintu, a former seraphim and Serah’s sister.

After losing to God for a second time, Nintu decided to seek aid from Man to fulfill her plan. She chose her members carefully. Her first member was the infamous Dr. Yen (Professor Yen in Beast of Bronx). Thanks to his intellect, they were able to create a drug that turned Man into meta-humans. Then, she recruited Jin Hidishi, a powerful drug lord, to distribute the drugs and to get rid of God’s current superhero team, Yajuu no Bronx. Sadly, it was a failed attempt. Hidishi’s protégé, Samantha, continued his work. Thanks to her Tech skills, along with the diplomatic skills of German UN representative, Hans Krause, a new meta-human drug was being developed.

To keep the world distracted, Nintu recruited Maxwell Sternberg, leader of the radical group, Chosen. Their role was to eradicate the meta-humans, making the world believe they were the evil ones. This internal strife brought many casualties on both sides. That day was known as The Cleansing. To round up the group, Nintu sought out another former student of Raziel, Xaphania. Xaphania was a former archangel, deemed a prodigy. She was best noted for creating a replica of The Lamb, calling it the Philosopher’s Stone. And it’s that same stone that’s being used in Nintu’s grand plan.

Nintu also created another team within Artemis. They are a shadow team, known as the Sinful Seven. With the inclusion of Nintu, these six high-ranked demons are Lucifer’s strongest fighters: Andras, Mammon, Yuki-Onna, Belphegor, Dantalion, and Abaddon.

Unlike Sanctuary, Artemis is located everywhere. Some locations are in plain sight, while others are hard to reach (Hell).

Chosen is a radical group that works for Artemis. Under the leadership of Maxwell Sternberg, this group consists of racists and bigots, armed with the latest weaponry. They believe they were “chosen” by God to wipe out the meta-humans and meta-human lovers.

Founded by Sternberg in 2009, the group slowly waited for the amount of meta-humans to outweigh the normal population. They spread fake news and held many rallies near high meta-human areas. Then, on September 20th, 2011, was the day Chosen took action. Known as The Cleansing, Chosen massacred many meta-humans worldwide. God stepped in and intervened, making Sanctuary rally most of the meta-humans into their stronghold.

The Lamb is a powerful stone that converts sin into spiritual energy. It was created by Raziel. The stone itself is made from hardened spiritual energy, mixed with three heavenly elements: Astatine, Neptunium, and Protactinium. It is known that these three elements are also in a lot of useful items in Heaven.

According to Raziel, it takes an extreme amount of heat and pressure, the three heavenly elements, and spiritual energy to make the stone. The stone itself is clear in color, has a short shelf life (1 millennium), and can grow to the size of a small mountain. What makes it The Lamb is the addition of Jesus’ blood. His blood lengthens the stone’s shelf life indefinitely. It not only gives the stone that red color, but it can convert sin into spiritual energy. That endless cycle eventually was “discovered” by Man, who called it The Conservation of Natural Energy.

There are two The Lambs ever made (recorded only in the Heaven Library). The first one was created a year before Jesus’ time on Earth while the second, and most current, was created during the Second War in Heaven. During the First War, The Lamb was destroyed by Lucifer. There was a brief moment where sin grew heavily and many people, including the religious sect, were blinded by it. So, God asked Raziel to create a second one, fusing it with Jesus’ blood. Raziel was also ordered to take a small piece of The Lamb and fuse it with the soul of a Divine Beast. That small piece was later called The Baptismal Crystal. At the same time, God placed The Lamb into a pocket dimension that can only be opened with The Baptismal Crystal.

The Baptismal Crystal is a small piece of The Lamb, with the soul of a Divine Beast. It was created by Raziel through pseudo-metamorphism, where extreme heat and pressure from Raziel’s machine further transformed the stone into a light blue, rectangular crystal. It is roughly three inches in length. Unlike other crystals, this one has a holy ring attached to it. The Baptismal Crystal has two main roles: to serve as a key to unlocking the whereabouts of The Lamb, and to maintain balance between the energy conversion within The Lamb, through a method called Baptize.

It is considered a living being, thanks to the soul residing within it. According to the Heavenly Records, the Divine Beast that later became The Baptismal Crystal used to be a guardian for the Garden of Eden. It was known for having a strong defensive barrier, thanks to the holy ring God gave it. However, during the Second War in Heaven, the Divine Beast was severely injured by Nintu. God asked Raziel to fuse its soul with the crystal, along with the holy ring. This fusion gave The Baptismal Crystal numerous abilities, such as teleportation, creating barriers, slowing down time, healing organic matter, being a universal translator, gaining a human form, and firing spirit energy.

Despite it having the soul of a Divine Beast, The Baptismal Crystal can’t form a normal contract with its partner. Instead, it forms temporary contracts, called Soul Drive. This method allows The Baptismal Crystal to “reside” with the host’s soul and use the host’s body to perform certain functions (basically, two souls in one body). It is used mainly for cleansing The Lamb, but it can be used for combat too. Only three people have partnered with The Baptismal Crystal: Rina, Tracy, and Quinton.

The Baptismal Crystal can speak. Well, more like thought-speak. It can also “see” someone by their spiritual energy, similar to Pishachas.

Pishachas are flesh-eating demons from Hindu/Buddhist mythos. Like the Drogulite, they too can shapeshift into their target. However, they are unable to make a believable imitation (think characters from One Piece).

Pishacha

Lucifer originally sent out the Pishachas to take over Man. However, that attempt was thwarted by the seraphim, Mutael. The Pishachas retreated to a small town on the outskirts of Germany, where they remain to this day.

Pishachas have no definite form. They are described as blobs with tentacles. Because of their poor eyesight, they sense everything through spiritual energy. They mostly eat the hearts of Man, but do enjoy snacking on the body parts. According to the Heavenly Records, the heart of Man contains the most nutrients, especially ones filled with malice. Over the millennia, Pishachas have developed a taste for certain types of hearts. The HBI (Heaven Bureau of Investigations) have used this knowledge to categorize the Pishachas.

Pishachas also have a strong network. They can communicate both through The Veil and other dimensional planes. They are close-knit. When one falls, their death is felt by all.

Pishler

Pishachas have the ability to evolve. Their evolved form is called a Pishler. In this stronger, tougher form, their bodies are humanoid and armored. They still have use of their tentacles, which is why they never carry any weapons. A Pishler is able to possess a human to get around in the human world. But, they are also able to “imitate” a human by wearing the human’s skin (after devouring the human’s insides). However, they only do that on special infiltration missions.

Only a handful of Pishachas ever evolve into a Pishler and keep that form. According to the Heavenly Records, their evolved form isn’t permanent. Since it requires a high amount of demonic energy to keep that form, many Pishachas die after completing a mission in that form.

The planet Macu is thirty light years away from Earth. It is similar to Earth, but has one large continent. That continent is divided into five regions: Aqua, Forest, Shadow, Mountain, and Plains.

The Forest Region is the central region and is home to the Nebtan race, a group of people that are similar to the Ancient Japanese. The lush greenery and vegetation make them the hub for trading.

The Aqua Region is to the east of the Forest Region. The large islands are connected by a train system, and the aquatic life is also another hot spot for trading. Not much is known of their inhabitants, but they are allies with the Forest Region.

The Mountain Region is to the north of the Forest Region. It used to be ruled by Nayo, an enemy of the former Forest Region king and queen. The Yajuu no Bronx team defeated him and the current ruler is unknown.

The Plains Region is to the south of the Forest Region. It is known as the desert region, filled with sand and wild desert creatures. Their former ruler used to be an ally to the Forest Region king and queen. Then, one day, he vanished and the current ruler stepped in. According to outside sources, the kingdom runs on steam-power.

The Shadow Region is to the west of the Forest Region. It where the Drogulites live. They were cast there by Lucifer and had their gateway destroyed. Then, they were ruled by Uni, another enemy of the former Forest Region king and queen. He, too, perished by the hands of the Yajuu no Bronx team. Currently, the inhabitants are just your average shadow creatures.

The Nebtans are an alien race that are similar to the Ancient Japanese. The way they dress and their culture mimics the Ancient Japanese. Even their language is that of the Japanese, but with a New York accent. Despite looking human, there is a notable difference. Every Nebtan is born with black spots all over them. The spots symbolize their connection to the animals. Males lose their spots at sixteen while females’ spots change from black to blue at fourteen. These changes signify that marriage is on the horizon.

The Nebtan kingdom consists of two cities and the massive temple. The city of Raion (Lion in Japanese) is the larger city, holding nearly 2 million Nebtans. Near the Plains Region, is the city of Yagi (Goat in Japanese). It is the smaller city, holding 500,000 Nebtans. And then there’s the Mori (Forest in Japanese) Temple, which stands in the center. It is considered the palace for the royal family, and can hold 5,000 Nebtans. To get to any location within the kingdom, one must travel by carriage.

They are mostly a warrior race, with an army of 500,000. Unlike the Ancient Japanese, females are able to join the army. In fact, most of the Nebtan women are fighters. When Nebtan children reach age 7, they are taught basic fighting skills. By age 14, a select few are taught the Nebtan Sword Dances, a powerful sword style.

The Nebtan Sword Dances are powerful sword techniques, passed down from generation to generation. There are 9 in total (8 solo and 1 with a partner). Only 7 of the dances are elemental dances. Each dance is powerful and must be used with caution. It has been recorded that they can severely damage your body if performed wrong.

Kaze no Mai combines speed and accuracy, and is the easiest dance to use. Only three people have used it when they fought: Ching, Mutael, and Quinton.

Ame no Mai is more of an illusionary sword dance, and used for defensive purposes. The user would use surrounding water and create a watery clone to trick the enemy.

Iwa no Mai is an offensive sword dance, using the ground. It creates a tidal wave of rock and dirt, capable of demolishing several buildings in one stroke.

Raikou no Mai is another offensive sword dance. It shoots out a beam of electricity from the forward thrust. It is also one of the hardest dances to master, due to the amount of stamina it takes away.

Moku no Mai is a defensive sword dance. It allows the user to create a wooden dome, strong enough to withstand a medium-sized bomb.

Hi no Mai is a strong offensive dance. Like Raikou no Mai, this too is a stamina-drainer. The user must be able to slash twice quickly to create the fiery cross slash.

Ku no Mai is another illusionary sword dance. It allows the user to create two copies of himself. When combined with the other sword dances, it can be a powerful force.

Dankestu no Mai is the most powerful sword dance in their arsenal. It literally combines all the elements into a powerful attack. Over the years, the sword dance was modified to suit the user, giving it a wide range of attacks. But one side effect always remained: it would put a massive strain on the user’s body. Many Nebtans who used this sword dance died minutes after using it.

Dance of the Nebtan Flower is the only sword dance that requires a partner. It is considered the slowest and most beautiful. The sword dance is a series of synchronized steps moving in and out of the circle, creating a flower pattern with the target’s blood. On record, the only characters to use this sword dance is Ching and Hibika.

The Time Dessert is another name for Purgatory, in the Beast Series. This is also where Sanctuary resides.

This vast space is where both angels and demons can coexist, along with wandering souls. According to the Heavenly Records, many battles were fought in Purgatory before the construction of Sanctuary. Since then, Sanctuary has become the place to handle all matters of celestial business.

God created this space to resemble a dessert, as away to make you “reflect” upon your past sins before being judged. While there, one may encounter special zones that either accelerate or slow down time. These zones are scattered throughout the Time Dessert and are invisible to the wandering soul. One known example of this is the wandering soul, Kiana. Her appearance is that of a 20 year old, despite dying when she was 8 years old.

Created by Raziel, these heavenly items were designed to be used only by the Paladins. It was God’s way of showing those chosen heroes He is always there to lend a helping hand. According to the Heavenly Records, many of the Biblical heroes used Heaven’s Gear to defeat their enemies, or save God’s people.

These items are disguised as fancy bracelets, transforming to said item when needed. The items can range from a wooden staff to a gauntlet. There are over 50 Heaven’s Gear, but only a small handful are used in this book series.

Paladins are the chosen warriors of God. They have been around since Biblical times. According to the Heavenly Records, most of the Biblical heroes were Paladins. Since then, their numbers have fluctuated.

At birth, Paladins receive a cross-shaped birthmark on their body, symbolizing their connection with God. The birthmark is small, but distinctive. Paladins are also known for having high spiritual energy and spirit awareness. In the book series, both Tracy and Tobias are noted for displaying their spirit awareness. Some Paladins have manifested their power, resulting in the ability to emit spiritual energy, teleportation, etc. The most noted one for this display, to date, is Tracy.

Paladins are the only users for the Heaven’s Gear. To date, only the Biblical heroes were noted for using the heavenly artifacts.

Tamers are the chosen warriors who have made contracts with Divine Beasts. Under the contract, the user is given the abilities of said Divine Beast, even transforming into an anthropomorphic creature. The Freedom and Yajuu no Bronx teams are the only ones who made said contracts. There are two other states that the user can achieve, but at a cost.

According to Merrick, Adam was the first to change between an anthropomorphic form and a beast form. Adam called it Wild Evolution. In Wild Evolution, both the Divine Beast and human are in total resonance. They have to ability to slide between both forms. This unique ability can be useful in battle. However, it puts a tremendous amount of stress on the user. In some case, the Divine Beast subconsciously tries to take over their partner’s body, resulting in unchanged beast features. This is evident with Pete aka Driger, from the Freedom team.

Another form that can be created is a fusion form. That can be achieved between two Tamers with high resonance. The fusion form creates a whole new Tamer, with abilities from both parties. It’s not known for being permanent, but the possibility is there. Only the members from Yajuu no Bronx have achieved this state.

Meta-Humans (often seen as Metas or meta-humans) are the by-product of a drug, created by Dr. Yen (Professor Yen in Beast of the Bronx). The drug rearranged the DNA of ordinary people, granting them superhuman abilities.

Meta-Humans were seen as the bad guys in Beast of the Bronx, due to Dr. Yen creating various meta-humans, like the Metamorphic Five, Kat, and the Meta-Human Army. It was until Hidishi’s plan to use the water supply to distribute the drug, that ordinary people become meta-humans too. By the end of Beast of Bronx, there were over 190 million meta-humans.

However, that number quickly dwindled to 500, 000, thanks to a horrific incident, known as The Cleansing. On Sept 20, 2011, the radical group, Chosen, went on a world-wide meta-human hunt. Soon, Sanctuary stepped in and collected 75% of the remaining 500,000, ending the massacre. To date, there are still meta-humans lurking around, keeping a low profile.

Also known as Calamity Jane (mentioned in Beasts in Sheep’s Clothing), these meta-human drugs were RNA modifiers that would rewrite DNA code. The first two versions were created by Dr. Yen, with the third version created by the Fallen archangel, Xaphania.

The first was prior to Beast of the Bronx, known as the proto drug. This simple version was disguised as a party drug and distributed throughout colleges and universities. Due to its unstable effects, many people died within hours of taken it. The only person in the book series to survive the effects of the primitive drug is Miharu Takayo.

The second version is the most known. This version of the drug created many of the Yajuu no Bronx’s enemies, as well as turned 190 million people into meta-humans. Instead of using pills, the drug was liquid-based. This made it easier for transport and distribution. Many countries paid Hidishi to acquire the liquid drug, but it was sabotaged by the Yajuu no Bronx team.

The third version is combination of the liquid drug and other mysterious ingredients. Not much is known about its development, but it is stated that several companies have their hands on some of the key ingredients (found in Beasts in Sheep’s Clothing).
