A Special Milestone

It still feels so surreal…

Two months ago, I was trying to figure out a way to market my books. I was low on funds, so advertising was a no-go. And my usual “pitching it to people” strategy was a hit-or-miss. That’s when I remembered one of my aunts telling me about the local library. Ever since Beast of the Bronx was published, my aunt (who lives in Canada), told me she mentioned my book to the library. So, I did some research. It turns out the libraries here in Savannah, GA have a program where they accept local authors and display their books in their main branch. I took a chance and filled out the application for both Beast of the Bronx and Beasts In Sheep’s Clothing. According to the application, it would take up to 90 days to fully assess a book. So, I waited…and waited.

Around February, I got curious and asked the person I spoke about the program. He then referred me to the person in charge. Later that day (Feb 10), I got an email stating both books were accepted and they had them on display at the Bull Street Library. So, I decided to pay them a visit. That Saturday (Feb 14), I took a trip to the Bull Street Library to find the Local Author Section. I almost missed it, since it was in the corner of the room. I took a look at the display. I found Beasts In Sheep’s Clothing and a gap underneath it. I spoke to the librarian on duty about my books. She informed me that Beast of the Bronx was recently checked out and Beasts In Sheep’s Clothing was brought back yesterday. I was stunned to see both books making waves in such a short time of being displayed. I wanted to shed a tear of joy. Both my wife and daughter took pictures of the display and pictures of me standing next to it. This was indeed a milestone in my life.
